UNESCO MGIEP announces the Gaming Challenge semi-finalists

We are proud to announce the two semi-finalists of the UNESCO MGIEP Gaming Challenge. These winning game designs display a fine balance between the essential elements of fun, learning, and positive engagement with peace and sustainability that the Challenge demands, while retaining their appeal to the end-player through their promise of an exciting and innovative game:

World Rescue is a game design from the Hungarian studio, Pocket Scientists. In World Rescue, your finger is the superhero. It connects the real and game world by a magical touch, making it possible to create a peaceful and balanced world as you make your way ahead by solving exciting puzzles and playing diverse action mini-games. Once Upon a Tile (OUT) was jointly submitted by the Italian studio We Are Müesli, an independent game designer and developer, Pietro Polsinelli, and Daniele Giardini. OUT is a life-simulation about sustainable development. In this game, players match tiles representing human activities and resources to improve the universal well-being of a small, simulated world: a world where solutions have consequences and consequences matter.
