UNESCO MGIEP and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) signs MoU to enhance Digital Pedagogy and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) in India
Wednesday, 12 April 2023, New Delhi, India – UNESCO MGIEP and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish collaboration in teacher training for Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Digital Pedagogies. The partnership will focus on providing opportunities for self-paced life skills training for students, joint academic and research programs, and sharing information and content to promote a closer relationship between the two parties.
As part of the agreement, UNESCO MGIEP and AICTE will facilitate the technology-assisted implementation of India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This will involve providing digitally rendered jointly certifiable courses on UNESCO MGIEP's Framerspace Digital Platform, which will help build SEL and Digital Pedagogy skills in teachers as part of their continuous professional development.
In addition, the partnership will focus on building capacity and awareness of climate change issues, biodiversity preservation, sustainable development, and social and emotional skills among students. This will be achieved through joint academic research for impact assessment, exchanging information and academic publications, and organizing common events, knowledge workshops, seminars, and conferences.

The partnership will also help build capacity among teachers to incorporate SEL and Digital Pedagogies into their teaching practices, which will lead to a more engaging and effective learning experience for students. By working together, UNESCO MGIEP and AICTE can help ensure that Indian students are better equipped to navigate the challenges of the 21st century.
The MoU also provides for the exchange of information and consultation to identify additional areas in which effective and practical cooperation may be possible within the framework of the agreement. Any exchange of information between the parties will be subject to their respective policies and procedures for disclosing information.
The partnership between UNESCO MGIEP and AICTE is expected to positively impact education in India, helping prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century and promoting a closer relationship between the two organizations.
