The Global Collective for SEL and Digital Learning is a multi-stakeholder alliance mobilized to promote Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and digital learning as critical new dimensions in achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4— inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.

About

The Global Collective is a voluntary group of governments, universities, centres of research, and civil society and private sector organizations committed to pursuing the innovative and ethical use of digital technology in education and mainstreaming SEL.

Establishment of the Global Collective

At the Policy Forum at the 2019 Transforming Education Conference for Humanity (TECH) in December 2019, UNESCO MGIEP coordinated the formation of a Group of Governments and Other Relevant Stakeholders for Social-Emotional and Digital Learning. This group was officially launched in July 2020 under a shorthand name of the Global Collective for SEL and Digital Learning.

Renewed Relevance

The mission of the Global Collective has acquired a renewed relevance in the context of COVID-19, which has highlighted the need for bringing together digital learning solutions and SEL to help build emotional resilience in learners and educators.

Meet the Global Collective

The Global Collective pursues the twin goal of promoting digital learning solutions and SEL at scale, through capacity building, policy advocacy and outreach. We explore ways to mainstream SEL in school and higher education in a culturally and contextually appropriate way.

10 New members attend the Fifth Virtual Global Collective meet

The Global Collective for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Digital Learning organized its Fifth virtual meeting on 29 July 2021, which was attended by representatives from three governments - Bhutan, South Africa and Quebec- and 26 affiliate organizations.

Admission to the Global Collective is by invite only and is open to Ministries of education, teacher training Admission to the Global Collective is by invite only and is open to governments, teacher training institutes, universities and centres specialising in digital education and SEL, youth organizations, civil society organizations and private sector organizations operating in the field of education, as well as scholars in digital education or SEL, social entrepreneurs and schools and educator networks.
