UNESCO MGIEP launches the first online screening tool for Dyslexia in regional Indian Languages!

As part of its celebrations of Dyslexia Awareness Week (October 1st - 7th), UNESCO MGIEP today launched the first online screening tool for Dyslexia in regional Indian Languages

DALI (Dyslexia Assessment for Languages of India) is the first screening and assessment tool for dyslexia in regional Indian languages, developed at the National Brain Research Center. The DALI Screening application offers parents and teachers a convenient and an easy-to-use tool to identify children, up to standard 5, who may be at risk of dyslexia or reading disabilities. While several teachers have already been trained in the use of the paper-based screening tool, a digital application streamlines the process, allowing for quicker administration and generation of results. The app is free to download on the Google play store. On opening the app, parents/teachers can create profiles for individual students and complete a 21 item questionnaire directly on the screen. Upon completion, the app gives an immediate result regarding risk-level of the child. Suggestions are also made for the next steps.

The app has been developed by UNESCO MGIEP in collaboration with NBRC and the Design Innovation Centre of Delhi University.
