September 17, New Delhi: Prof Obijiofor Aginam, Director, UNESCO MGIEP, visited the School of Legal and Socio-Political Studies, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi to give a Guest Lecture on “Global Governance in a Fractured World.”

Prof Lawrence Liang, Dean and Professor, School of Legal and Socio-Political Studies, chaired the event. Professor Javed Iqbal Wani, Assistant Professor, School of Legal and Socio-Political Studies, gave the welcome note at this packed event, also attended by Professor Amit Kumar Mishra, Dean, School of Global Affairs, and Professor Nakkeeran Nanjappan, Dean, School of Public Policy and Governance.

The session underscored the urgent need for empathetic and collaborative responses to the growing threats posed by infectious diseases, pathogenic microbes, and the far-reaching impacts of climate change. In our increasingly interconnected world, the traditional boundaries between national and global health challenges are dissolving. These crises are shared, and addressing them effectively will demand collective, coordinated action across borders.

An enthusiastic cohort of Master of Arts and PhD students attended this Guest Lecture and put forth a host of questions in the Q&A session that followed. Their questions ranged from ways in which global governance can shape the lives of generations living with Climate Change ramifications, to the current relevance of the Westphalian system and ways of contributing towards it, both individually and collectively.
