UNESCO MGIEP’S Youth Townhall On Harnessing the Indian Youth Demographic Bulge for a True Dividend: Vision to action for the 21st Century

The UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institution of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) is organising a YOUTH TOWNHALL on Harnessing the Indian Youth Demographic Bulge for a True Dividend: Vision to action for the 21st Century on Thursday 31st August, 2017 at the UNESCO corporate office in New Delhi, India.
The Youth for Education, Sustainability and Peace (YESPeace) Network, a collaborative effort led by UNESCO MGIEP is spearheading this Youth TownHall by providing a platform to the youth to discuss key issues concerning their future with senior policy makers.
The main focus of this Youth TownHall will be on how education systems can play a key role in empowering young people to address the challenges of the 21st century
The Director General of UNESCO, Ms. Irina Bokova will address the TOWNHALL with a Senior Official from the Government of India as well as Dr. Karan Singh. The dialogue will be moderated by Abhishek Mujumdar, Founder, The Logical Indian, a social media news channel that brings forth unique stories, usually not covered by social media.
Through an interactive exchange, UNESCO MGIEP envisages bringing together the youth with senior decision makers to discuss:
- What are the key socio-emotional skills and competencies required for 21st century?
- How can the formal, non-formal and informal education systems respond and deliver these needs?
- What ways can the youth organizations partner with the Government of India in this initiative?
